About

FICC Youthrally Rome, Italy 2010

Information

Information obtained from the Site-visit Rome in October 2009 and from information received from the organisation afterwards.

Information about the Campsite:
The proposed campsite for the Youth Rally is Camping Village Roma in the Western part of Rome.
It is a campsite with:
- a small supermarket at the campsite (and a big one on the other side of the road),
- a restaurant for breakfast, dinner and lunch,
- a bar,
- bungalows (2-3 persons), chalets (4-6 persons with airconditioning), house tents (119 3-person tents with a wooden floor, a bunkbed and a single bed including matress and a lock on the canvas door),
- 2 swimming pools, a beach volleyball field, table tennis tables,
- a BBQ-area,
- an internet-cafe
- free luggage storage at the I-center and
- an information desk with touristic information, public transport tickets and maps.

Transport from the campsite into the city center is possible with one bus, or one bus and one underground (on Sunday). There is a bus stop in front of the campsite. For transport from the airport to the campsite there is a shuttle-bus offered by the campsite (€ 11,- p.p), but you can also take a train from Fiumicino and walk 800 m. Transport from Ciampino airport is also possible with the shuttle-bus, or you can take a bus from the airport to the city center and take a bus from there to the campsite. Detailed information about public transport to and from the campsite will be given to the participants by the organisation.

The participants will stay in the house-tents (3 persons per tent). These house tents are put up close to eachother in one part of the campsite. That part of the campsite will be exclusively for Rally Participants.
Participants need to stay in one tent with 3 persons if paying the normal rally fee. For an extra fee it is possible to stay in a tent with 2 persons.
The working group asked for the possibility to bring our own tent, next to the house-tents is a small field with pebbles meant for caravans. We know the pebbles are not ideal, but it might be an option. It is not sure yet whether we will be allowed to bring our own tent.

The rally fee is € 50,- per person. If you want to stay in a house-tent with 2 persons (in stead of 3) you pay € 75,- per person.
For a bungalow you pay € 75,- per person, if staying in a bungalow with 3 persons
and € 112,- per person if staying there with 2 persons.

The campsite uses their own payment card. It is a chip-card for which you pay a 5 euro deposit. Users need to charge it with euros to use it.

The rally will include breakfast. this will be included in the rallyfee. Participants can bring their own cooker and prepare dinner by themselves.

The sportswill be on the beach volleybal field and probably on a soccer field nearby (about 800 m.) Probably we will also be able to use the table tennis tables. If this all works out the organisation will provide rackets and balls.

The Disco will be inside or outside, depending on the weather. If inside, it will be at the bar-area in the center of the campsite, if outside it will be held in the activity-area on the other side of the campsite. The campsite-owner will arrange a bar to buy drinks and they will use the colored Youth Rally wristbands to maintain the age-limit on drinking alcohol. The disco will be for Rally participants exclusively. The disco will be open untill 2-3 AM.
The organised excursion will probably be “Rome by night”, it is not sure yet what it will include.

For the Church service the participants can go to the Saint Peters cathedral. The organisation will provide the participants with information about how to get there etc. The campsite offers a regular shuttle service to Vatican city: 2 euro p.p. return.

The organisation will collect information about activities close to the campsite and inform the participants about those activities, prices and how to get there.
